Spring Maintenance Checklist

Happy Spring y’all! It's time to get outside and get some fresh air… and even with this pandemic it’s something we all should do at least once a day!

Check out these tips to get your house ready for the hot summer ahead!

  1. Gutters- Remove any leaves or debris from gutters or downspouts. We all know spring can be especially rainy. Make sure your gutters are clear to avoid any leaks, rotting wood, or bugs from getting in your attic. Maybe invest in some gutter guards to prevent water from pooling.

  2. Siding and Deck- Time to power wash! After a long fall and winter it’s a great time to clean off decks/patios/siding of any built up dirt and pollen. Simply power washing can make your house looking brand new! But don’t get to close! Hard, direct powerful washing can damage wood and cause it to splinter!

  3. Roof- It's a great time to get your roof inspected. Just a visual inspection will do…they will check your roof and chimney for any damage! It’s important to get this inspected every year or so to save you from any costly damage. The summers can be the busiest time of the year for repair work, get a roofing company out now before it gets to hectic in the summer.

  4. Windows and Screens- Windows and screens typically tend to be an after thought for most. It’s a perfect time to clean windows and check for holes in screens to let some fresh air into the house without any creepy crawlies.

5. HVAC- We all hear horror stories about A/C not working in the heat of the summer. It is a perfect time to get a HVAC company out to inspect your unit/s to make sure everything is working properly and efficiently.

6. Landscape/ Garden- While we all have a little extra time on our hands, get outside and work on your yard! Maybe it’s pulling weeds, mowing the lawn, planting flowers, trimming bushes, or even adding a wind chime. After a chilly fall and winter the yard can get a tad messy, but a little bit goes a long way!
